CAIMAN MANU – Jungle Specialists

WHO WE ARE

As a tour operator, we specialize in nature and ecotourism programs, cultural experiences, and tailor-made itineraries in Manu National Park, always striving to minimize our impact on the environment.

We are an authorized operator under an agreement with the Peruvian Government and the administration of Manu National Park, making us one of the few agencies permitted to operate inside the park and to develop ecotours such as those presented on the following pages.

Our Director and CEO, Hugo Pepper, with forty-five years of experience operating in Manu and as a pioneer in the region, has taught us that the conservation of this uniquely biodiverse area must be a priority. As a company, we make every effort to offer our visitors a truly natural experience, so that they too may understand the importance of preserving the Amazon rainforest.

OUR NATURALIST GUIDES

The success of any rainforest trip depends largely on the quality of the guide. For this reason, we take special care in selecting and training our field staff.

All of our guides are professionals with years of experience conducting research and leading tours in Manu. They will help you understand the unique and fascinating world of the rainforest and the delicate interrelationships between the animals and plants in this ecosystem, pointing out birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects, and medicinal forest plants.

They will also provide information on the main cultural aspects of the different ethnic groups living within the park.

THE TRAILS IN MANU

The Park Administration, through the park rangers and authorized tour operators, is responsible for maintaining existing trails and opening new ones to points of special interest, while striving to cause as little negative impact on the forest as possible.

Each day, our programs allow you to explore trails that lead through many different ecosystems, crossing rivers and reaching oxbow lakes such as Salvador and Otorongo, where you can observe remarkable plants like giant kapok trees and study wildlife from observation towers or catamarans.

MEALS

Our delicious and hearty meals—featuring both traditional and international cuisine are prepared by our professional and dedicated cooks using a mix of local and rainforest products. We also cater to vegetarian diets.

TRANSPORTATION IN MANU PARK

Land transportation is provided by overland buses specially designed to handle jungle terrain. Our buses are comfortable and have plenty of space for gear.

Our motorized boats are fully equipped with cushioned seats, life jackets, and tarpaulins to protect you from the sun and rain. To ensure excellent and safe service, our experienced and qualified bus and boat drivers each with deep knowledge of the region will transport you safely along the area’s roads and rivers.
